A new study that is to determine the effectiveness of a new mesothelioma treatment began in March.
The program, sponsored by Morphotek Inc., a biopharmaceutical company and subsidiary of Eisai Corporation of North America, studies the effectiveness of an antibody designed to stop the growth of mesothelin. The company started Phase II of the study to evaluate the capabilities of the drug when combined with chemotherapy drugs pemetrexed and cisplatin. They hope to sustain progression-free survival for patients with locally advanced malignant pleural mesothelioma.
