Tainted toys put children at risk of asbestos exposure

Chinese-made toys, tainted with asbestos, are on the shelves of thousands of toy stores across the country and may put many American children at risk of asbestos exposure.

Even limited exposure to asbestos can cause mesothelioma, an incurable form of lung cancer, decades later.

Though it is no longer in production, the CSI Fingerprint Examination Kit had been found to contain asbestos in its white and glow powder.

The Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) has tested many products and found several containing asbestos, including additional children’s toys. This can be a difficult process because it is no longer a common practice to use asbestos in manufacturing.

In addition to the CSI fingerprint kit, the ADAO founds trace amounts of asbestos in Ja Ru Toy Clay and in six colors of the clay found in Art Skills’ Clay Bucket.

Other common products which have been found to contain at least trace amounts of asbestos are Scotch High Performance and All Weather Duct tapes, DAP Crack Shot Spackling Paste, DAP 33 Window Glazing and Gardner Leak Stopper.

Because asbestos exposure is considered highly preventable, especially among children, families affected by contaminated toys or other products should consider consulting an expert mesothelioma attorney for professional insight and to learn more about developing a mesothelioma lawsuit.
