Aapex Environmental Services Incorporated, an upstate New York asbestos removal company, agreed to pay a fine of $166,700 after admitting insurance fraud.

It was discovered that the company had failed to disclose its asbestos activities to their insurance company in order to obtain lower rates. As part of their plea, the company also agreed to never engage in asbestos-related work again. On June 3rd, a contractor for the company pled guilty to illegally removing and disposing of material containing asbestos in several buildings. This had been his practice for at least a decade.
