Monitoring the air of Parkersberg is necessary in order to protect the long-tem health of its residents.

It is possible that asbestos was released during a tornado due to property damage and high winds. Asbestos was used in common household products, such as roof shingles, prior to 1980. Damage to homes that were built prior to 1980 could potentially release asbestos particles into the air.
