$9.7 Million Awarded by Los Angeles Jury in Asbestos Suit
A Georgia man who developed chest cancer decades after being exposed to asbestos was awarded $9.7 million by a Los Angeles jury on May 16th.
Last year, the man was diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma. Doctors believe that he now has less than a year to live. His mesothelioma is attributed to asbestos exposure from asbestos-packed gaskets that he worked with while he served as a Navy machinist.
The jury found that the defendants did not properly alert the plaintiff to the dangers of the products he was handling. He was also not trained to protect himself.
Mesothelioma attorneys are working on cases in which serious illness has developed due to the negligence of corporations.
