Minnesota Governor Doesn’t Support Bill Funding Iron Range Mesothelioma Study
The Governor of Minnesota, Tim Pawlenty does not support a bill that will fund a study of mesothelioma among workers and near by residents of the Iron Range mining facilities.
Pawlenty says that the funding is coming from the wrong place. The bill calls for funding to be taken out of the Worker’s Compensation Fund.
The agency in charge of the Worker’s Compensation Fund agrees with the Governor and feels that the money in the fund should not be used for the study.
Since mesothelioma is classified as a worker’s health issue, Representative Tom Rukavina feels that the Worker’s Compensation Fund is an appropriate source for funding the study.
Asbestos attorneys are currently working on mesothelioma claims.
