Thanks to the AMA (American Medical Association) and their lobbying efforts it is very difficult even in discovery to find out past histories and information concerning your doctor… 

 However, interestingly enough, when an attorney messes up it is published for all to read about in the State Bar Journal.  I think it is high time doctors are held to the same level of accountability. 

 So have a face to face meeting with your doctor and ask questions.  Be an informed consumer.

As a consumer of medical services you have the right to ask your doctor questions before letting that doctor treat you.

  Here are some examples of questions to ask your doctor: 

 * ask about how many hospitals your doctor has privileges at as well as where

* ask how far the doctor drives and how often

* ask if your doctor has ever been sued

* ask when your doctor sleeps  

(I would not let someone hold my baby that had been up for 72 hours plus, much less deliver my baby).
