Mesothelioma Can Be Tricky To Diagnose
Too often mesothelioma is not diagnosed, or incorrectly diagnosed as small cell lung cancer, pneumonia, or bronchitis, are just a few that come to mind. Always be sure to tell your health care provider of any and all exposure that you have had to asbestos as well as any other hazardous substance.
If you or a loved one have been recently diagnosed with a cancer or another diagnosis listed above or below (or if you have one or more of the symptoms/conditions that are listed below), ask that your health care professionals complete the necessary tests (Immunohistochemical marker tests for mesothelioma) to rule out mesothelioma because the following are red flags that you may have mesothelioma:
* Fluid is drained off of your abdomen or lungs,
*History of asbestos exposure, which may be only washing clothes for a spouse who has a history of asbestos exposure at their job,
*Diagnosis of Cancer but no primary site found,
*Diagnosis of lung cancer with no smoking history
